We are back with our latest edition of “Meet the Beys” and this time, we are introducing you all to our Web Developer “Rehman Abbas”. He is the silent one in the room, mostly indulged in his own work but once in a while, he would casually crack a random joke and that’s when you know, he has a quirky and fun personality. He knows how to stay calm and persistent in difficult situations and getting the work done. As a token of appreciation, we conducted a five minutes rapid fire question answer session to know more about him.
Currently, I am working as a Web Developer here. As part of my day-to-day responsibilities, I take part in the entire process of building web applications and writing well-designed, testable, efficient code using the best software development practices and utilize standard HTML/CSS practices to create website layouts and user interfaces.
The more I work here, the longer my “to learn” list gets. Each new thing I learn opens up a gate to a whole new lot of concepts, tools, etc. This keeps me engaged and curious about what’s to come. The web development field is so vast that once you really get into it, it gets more specific that you just never run out of ways to grow and improve your craft.
There are many challenges in web development. The first thing I have to overcome in a project is to clearly define my goals. Goals can affect or reduce the quality of a website or web application. Starting with a specific goal simplifies the process and allows me to focus in the right direction. Browser and platform compatibility are typically one of the biggest challenges for web developers. Therefore, I need to make sure the sites work on all the existing browsers on the internet and devices of different screen sizes.
The experience has been great for me as I have been able to get started in a career and through working on large commercial applications, my skill set is being constantly upgraded. What I have learned from this experience is that there is always room for growth when you are working for an IT firm and through dedication and consistency, we can develop things that quite possibly have the potential to change the world.
